Art Journaling with Cut Files

I had this wonderful idea for a layout that went horrible wrong the other day and I had to figure out a way to save the cut file that I semi destroyed since I didn’t want to just give up on it. I figured the best place for this cut file was going to be my art journal so thats exactly what I did. I had to grab my Dylsuisons art journal because the cut file itself was pretty large. I also grabbed my Dylsuions paint because I have an easier time blending them together and I like using my fingers with this paint!

I definitely got good and messy with this page but I really enjoyed just playing with my supplies and turning this cut file into something completely different. I also found matt medium at Walmart for like $4. Ummmm now that is pretty dang cheap and it worked really well so this is definitely something that I will purchase again. Although I do prefer my Liquitex matt medium gel just because its heavier but for sticking down paper or collage work this $4 matt medium from Walmart is perfect.

There was something so satisfying to me knowing that this cut file did not go to waste and neither did my very first typewriter written saying. Ohhhhh, how I love my new typewriter and the fact that it can fit 12×12 paper in it is amazing!

You can see the whole process of how I put this mixed media page together here. Have you given mixed media a try?
