Today was one of those days where intially I wasn’t feeling it. I was tired and had been going non stop all day long. Whenever the kids have an event after school I always end up feeling rushed. Enough complaining, I managed to get day 8 done and almost in the books. I am really trying to incorporate the things that I love to do in this album. I love texture paste, paint, sewing, and mixed media stuff in general and I haven’t done much of that stuff yet.
I needed a filler card but I didn’t have one so I grabbed some of the awesome Heidi Swapp gold texture paste and one of her stencils and made some filler cards. The photos do not do this card justice and the gold is so pretty in real life.
After I made the little card I though that it was a little plain and that it needed something else. This is where the paint came into play. I grabbed two different blue acrylic paints because I wasnt sure which one was going to look the best and painted one of the wood snowflakes that came in the main kit from Ali. I ended up painting both sides of the snowflake so that I could make a decision and some of the dark blue transferred onto the light blue side which ended up being the perfect combination. I love when mistakes end up being perfect. I also inked the edges of the cards with the Faded Jeans distress ink.
I had a tag for this layout to document the # of the day and I just added a strip of the gold washi tape to the bottom of the tag and adhered it some old glitter paper that I have in my stash from last year with a bit of twine from Close To My Heart. I have a large Christmas tree stamp that I stamped and fussy cut out for the other pocket. Now I am not sure if I am going to leave the card that says drink more nog where it is or if I am going to move it.
That’s it for day 8. I can’t share the other side of the album with the photos in it because I am that mom that forgot to get an individual photo of my baby girl at her music performance this evening and all the photos have her and pictures of the other children. The other side of day 8 is a protector with space for two 4×6 photos. I ended up using some cards and stickers for that side of the layout. I might do a bit of stitching around one of the photos as well.
