Easy Teacher Appreciation Week

This coming week is teacher appreciation week at my daughters school. Lucky for me my new Close To My Heart Cricut cartridge (Artfully Sent) came in and it has just things I need to make quick and easy cards for all of my daughters teachers. Did you also know that you can grab this cartridge for half off by hosting your own CTMH party. For more information on how to grab this cartridge all you have to do is click here.  When you are a teacher yourself that has been working 6 days a week, quick and easy is exactly what I needed.

All I had to do was search through the cartridge and pick a design for each teacher. I picked some cute cards that were really simple to put together for each of my daughters teachers. Monday she is supposed to bring a homemade card and the Artfully Sent cartridge was perfect for this. I made the cards larger then I normally do so that my daughter had plenty of space to write in them. You can grab the cut file for these cards here.

thank you cards ctmh artfully sentThese are the cards that I chose to make and I cut them all out with Close To My Heart’s White Daisy cardstock. I know I have mentioned it before but I am going to mention it again, CTMH cardstock cuts like a dream in my Cricut Explore. I also have to say if you have the Cricut Explore, the bluetooth device is a must because it makes life so much easier. I love being able to create on my iPad and then open the same project on my computer at home or cut directly from the iPad. I have manged to create more then I have in the past by dragging my iPad back and forth to work with me.

After I cut out all the cards I got to work on this adorable make it now project because Tuesday is the day that my daughter is supposed to bring a snack for her teacher. I thought that it was only fitting that I make something St. Patricks Day related.

Have you tried any of the make it now projects in Design Space? I think they are great and some of them are really easy to make. Any who I fell in love with this little cauldron with the pinwheels and I thought that it would be perfect for snack day. I did have some issues with putting the pinwheels together and gluing this thing together.

I am starting to think that a low temperature hot glue gun is the way to go when putting 3D projects together. I started out with Scotch quick dry adhesive but it was taking me forever to get the pieces to stick together. Towards the end of putting the cauldron together I knew that I was going to have to switch to the hot glue gun so that I could put it all together quickly and properly without cussing my paper out in the process!

I used 8.5×11 black cardstock for the cauldron and then I used some 12×12 green paper for the pinwheels and for the little belt that is wrapped around the cauldron. I had a very old piece of yellow scrap cardstock that I used for the buckle of the belt. As usual these projects take a lot longer to put together then they do to cut out.

I had some wood pieces that I wrapped some green washi tape around and then I hot glued the pinwheels to them. I used some old brads that I have had forever as well for the pinwheels. After I glued the pinwheels to the wood I then put hot glue on the bottom of the wood sticks and stuck them inside the cauldron so that they would stand up straight and they wouldn’t move.

My only regret is that I should have cut the middle one down a little more before I stuck it in the cauldron. I meant to spray some color shine on to the pinwheels but completely forgot before I glued them intocricut explore make it now

the cauldron. I still might attempt to spray them with some color shine before Tuesday morning, which is when I have to give this adorable little cauldron up.

All in all I am quite happy with this little cauldron and I know that the more I practice with putting these 3D projects together the better I will be. Which is why I grabbed some new files from SVG cuts as well over the weekend that I can’t wait to get my crafty little hands on. I will be sharing these projects with you soon as I get the chance. I have a whole week off next week for Spring Break and I am looking forward to some much needed crafty time.
