iPhone Scrapbooking Love

I have another great guest post for you today from Alice Boll at Scrapbook Wonderland. She is going to share with you today how she created a wonderful layout all about her iPhone. I can so relate to this as you already know and she has inspired me to scrap about my iPhone Love as well! Enjoy Alice’s post!

Hi, I’m Alice Boll from Scrapbook Wonderland. I’m a happily married mother of two with over 14 years of scrapbooking experience. I love to scrapbook! My goal is to make meaningful scrapbook pages with a bit of creativity and inspire others to do the same. I hope you’ll come visit me and subscribe to my email list. (After you’ve read this post of course!)

My friend Beth has a special knack for technology (but I’m sure you already know that!). I created a scrapbook page that shares my favorite piece of technology, my iPhone. I’ll show you some of the tricks and techniques I used when creating this page, so you can see my process, and perhaps use these tips to inspire your own pages.

I’m always looking for ways to make my scrapbooks more meaningful. In my opinion, a scrapbook without journaling is simply a pretty photo album. 😉

Does that mean ALL of my pages are filled with amazing journaling? I only wish! 🙂 To improve my journaling and scrapbooking skills, I’m always taking classes and courses. I was inspired to create this page in Monica Bradford’s Your Life Inspired class. Monica shares her amazing ideas at Scrap Inspired.

The inspirational topic for this page was: someTHING you love. For me it was an easy choice. I always have my iPhone close by and I check it constantly.I made a list of 10 things I love about my iPhone.

1. You keep me organized with my To Do List!
2. You organize my calendar too!
3. I can quickly look up important things online!
4. You let me capture the moment!
5. You help me remember essentials!
6. You are a thing of beauty!
7. You provide daily scrapbook info!
8. You have fun games to occupy me while I wait!
9. You have my tunes that keep me rockin!
10. Oh yeah! You are a phone too!

Steps to create this page, AKA the fun details:

Once I had my list of 10 things I loved about my iPhone the next step was taking photos of my phone. I used my Canon Rebel Xsi to take photos of my phone showing some of the screens I use ALL of the time. Then I chose the supplies I wanted to work with. I don’t necessarily use all of the items I pull out, and I may add more, it just gives me a starting point so I can begin to put my page together.
I stamped the clock image onto the background paper. (Note: there will be a list of supplies at the end of this post if you are curious about what I used specifically.)
I trimmed my photos.
I decided I wanted to lay the photos out in a heart shape.
I cut a sample heart using my Cricut.

After I arranged the photos the way I liked, I cut the heart out of my patterned paper. I distressed the edge of the heart with pink and red inks using a sponge dauber.

Next I figured out how I was going to add numbers to the layout. I decided to stamp the numbers onto a thick page protector using StazOn ink. I could have used a transparency, but I couldn’t find one! 😉 Then I cut each number out so I could attach them individually near the photos using a brad. Don’t be scared to cut a page protector!!

I found that once in awhile the StazOn didn’t make a clean impression on the plastic page protector. I just stamped another one… no big deal!
If you’ve worked with StazOn before you know that it can be pretty messy! I use the StazOn cleaner as soon as possible to clean my stamps. Keep extra paper towel handy!

I decided my title would have 3 parts. The word ‘iPhone’ in the middle, ‘how do I love thee?’ at the top, and ‘let me count the ways…’ down on the left. I started lining up my alphabet letters on the edge of my clear ruler. This lets me know the spacing of the letters and I can see exactly where I want to place them!

As a last step I added journaling to the page (by hand!!) and stamped the final phrase. As much as I sometimes dislike my own handwriting, I find it quick and easy to add journaling to a page and it adds a personal touch.

I loved scrapbooking my iPhone! I know that when I look back at this page in 20 years, perhaps only 10, I’ll be amazed at how technology has changed. I’m glad I’m capturing a piece of that in my scrapbook. I also love that I’m sharing the story of how ingrained the iPhone is in my daily life. I know it’s not just me… go to a concert, a restaurant, a scrapbook crop, you’ll see people with their phone in hand everywhere you go!
