Julie Nutting Project Life Cards

Last month I signed up for four project life card swaps. I found this group on Facebook last year where you create your own project life cards and you swap them with other wonderful people. I haven’t swapped in a very long time and I really enjoyed February’s swap so when I signed up for March I just couldn’t help myself.

You can check out the project life cards swaps site by clicking here and now on to what I made. I love Julie Nutting Doll stamps and if I could buy all of them I would but alas I am not rich so I have to deal with the fact that I can’t have them all. Any who one of the swaps was Julie Nutting Dolls so I grabbed my Mindy doll and got to work. I made a little video so that you could see how I created Mindy and then I dressed her in Spring colors.

I didn’t have any paper that I really liked and that matched her clothes so I created my own with ink sprays and watercolor paper. I sprayed the ink onto my craft mat and then smooshed the paper into the ink. I love how these came out and how my dolls matched their backgrounds. I then stamped a sentiment from my Close To My Heart stamp set Diamonds Are Forever.

The next card that I was swapping was a mixed media card. For this card I grabbed my gelli printing plate (which is something I really need to play with more) and got to work. I used deli paper and made some prints after the dried I ripped them apart and mod podged the strips on to a piece of white daisy cardstock. I then cut the paper into 3×4 cards and used some Heidi Swapp grey texture paste and a Dina Wakely stencil for the heart.

The next card I created was a butterfly themed card. I used my Close To My Heart stamp set Your Beautiful Self and Shimmerz paints to water color the butterfly. Then I just doodled a line all around the card. I stamped my butterfly on water color paper because I knew that I had wanted to use watercolors and felt that I would get the best look with the watercolor paper. I was surprised at what a great impression that I got from my stamps.

The last set of cards that I created were the stitched cards, at the exact same time my sewing machine broke so I had to hand stitch my cards which took me forever! I used the Amy Tangerine stitch guide and the Regatta Close To My Heart paper which I absolutely love.

These 4 cards took me forever to create but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and getting creative. Do you enjoy creating your own project life cards?
