Mixed Media Layouts

I have been having fun embracing my inner Missy Whidden and putting my love for mixed media and scrapbooking together. The first layout I got really creative with using soft gel, a heart stencil and some watercolors. Of course I had a light layer of gesso all over my patterned paper as well. I used the cheap watercolors from Michaels for this layout and did a little mixing of the two yellows that come with them. I found a few embellishments, did my journaling and then decided to mount my cardstock on to a black piece of cardstock. I stitched around the edges but had some major issues with my sewing machine which is now currently out of commission until my honey can fix it.

The second layout I used this awesome cut file that I came across in Design Space and grabbed my Shimmerz Paints to paint the hearts. I then mounted my cut file onto the Regatta paper from Close To My Heart. I couldn’t find paper to layer behind my photo so I grabbed some white scrap cardstock and painted it the colors that I painted my hearts so that everything would be matching. I found a few embellishments and added a title with some thickers and called this layout done.

Are you incorporating mixed media into your scrapbooking?

I’m glad you are doing some of these mixed media style memory pages. I hope you have as much fun doing them as I do!
