Scrapping with a Kit

I have shared with you before how wonderful the Close To My Heart Workshops on the Go are because they come with everything that you need to create layouts. I love these kits because they enable me to create layouts quickly that look beautiful. All the current Workshops on the Go are going to be retired at the end of August so if you have had your eye on one you are going to want to grab one before they are gone!

Now that I have shared with you how awesome these kits are I also wanted to share with you that I decided to give a Paper Camellia kit a try to see what an outside kit was all about. These kits are put together with different product lines and I have to admit that I really enjoyed working with the May Paper Camellia kit. You can check it out here and I believe it is even on sale right now.

I also broke out my wonderful little new Janome sewing machine and I can’t even begin to tell you how easy it was to do some stitching on my layout with this cute little machine. I have always shied away from sewing on my layouts but for some reason this little machine makes sewing a whole lot easier and I love the look of sewing on a layout. I added a few embellishments that came with the kit and added some color shine to some of the wood veneers and called this layout done after I added my journaling and the date.

The whole layout came together in about 15 minutes and I love that I was able to get this layout done so quickly. I have said before how my main goal is always to get the story told and not spend hours on a layout.

Now since I have been talking about scrapbooking with the project life app all week I also wanted to share with you a layout that I had printed through Persnickety Prints and then just added a little journaling and a few stickers to it so that the layout itself didn’t look so flat. Don’t get me the wrong the prints from Persnickety Prints are gorgeous but the layouts do feel a little flat to me since the photos themselves are not in individual pockets and have no embellishments what so ever on them. I wanted to share with you that just by adding a little to these layouts that you can make them feel more personal to you.

I am working on catching up with my project life album from last year and being able to complete both of these layouts in 20 minutes last night was wonderful for me. I am now almost done with September from last year!
